There's nothing quite as pleasant as escaping the Bay area
traffic and taking a drive over Highway 9 towards Santa Cruz.Trails,
parks, wineries and small communities filled with amazing
art galleries are tucked away around corners and hills.
The first town you come to is Boulder Creek. Large enough
for motels and restaurants, but small enough to have charm.
You can spend a pleasant after noon exploring this area.
If you get a chance,
stop by the Art
& Wine Gardens. Art, wine tasting for local wineries
and classes are offered here. Stop in, taste some wine and enjoy
the gardens.
The town was started in 1875, a choise
site for the logging industry forming here. By 1884, The South
Pacific Narrow Gauge Railroad had come into town. Although much
of the town was destroyed n the fire of 1891, it was quickly
rebuilt and you can see many of the buildings on a walking tour
today.
Now the residents tend to be in the service and tourist industry
or commute over the hill to the Bay Area.
