Some people want to get away from everything, they take the
road all the way to the end, and then stay.
For those people, here it is.
Here's a small California Fixer-upper.
Probably only $500,000.
The other main reason to come to Casmalia is the Hitching
Post Restaurant. Reportedly the best steak in the west.
Reservations are recommended.
There were more cars in the parking lot of this restaurant
than could be found in the rest of the town.
Driving through town and seeing the
various houses is worth the time. Quail running across the road,
interesting yard decor and friendly people enjoying the evening
on their porch all await.
Local employment has come from farming,
the oil fields and the Southern Pacific Railway. You can still
smell the hydrocarbons in the air on the way into town.
