           The Charles Paddock Zoo
9305 Pismo Ave
just off of Highway 101 in Atascadero. (805) 461-5080. Take the Hwy 41 exit west about three miles.


Started by Charles Paddock, a ranger with a big heart for injured animals, the zoo has grown to occupy over 5 acres. Filled with interesting animals, like tigers and bears, this is a great place to spend an afternoon.

New Arrivals

The zoo got a Fossa last year (one of the few zoos that has one on exhibit. They became popular with the movie Madagascar since they are the villains (they eat the lemurs), they recently put Burrowing Owls and a Channel Island Fox on exhibit.  The Burmese Python will be going back on exhibit after a couple of years of being off exhibit.

The Parrots at Charles Paddock Zoo
The parrots are in an open exhibit, and flamingos are right next door. The more exotic birds are in a covered aviary.

New Events Coming Soon!

Meet you new neighbor at the zoo. A Channel Island fox, he's getting ready to go out in public.
The Charles Paddock Zoo is now offering Children's Workshops for ages 5-12. These workshops include hands-on activities, tours in the zoo, games, crafts,
videos, and more. Each workshop will feature a different topic of interest to young and old alike. Drop the children off, or stay and enjoy the program.
