This area was a favorite site of traders
coming to load ships or ships trading along
the coast.
Fresh water, easy access to the ocean and
great weather probably made this a favorite
living area.
Park by the windmill just north of Cayucos
and follow the trail to the ocean. Along
the edge of the bluffs you'll find these
holes, where grain was ground by the Chumash
Indians.
I'm still looking into the full story,
but supposedly a sweat lodge was located
on the top of this hill for the men.
