This town exudes charm and draws you in as you pass it heading north on Hwy 1 to Hearst Castle. It's just 12 miles up the road from Cayucos, and a couple of miles from San Simeon Acres. San Simeon State Park is just north of the town also.

Full of artists, galleries and fun shops with very unique gifts, this town is popular destination in itself.

Nitt Witt Ridge.

The new owners of Nitt Witt Ridge seem as odd as the orignal, but it's well worth the time to visit.

If you get a chance head over the other side of Hwy 1 to Moonstone Drive. They've completed an extensive boardwalk along the ocean here.

If you saw Huell Howser's special on the Hamlet at Moonstone Garden, it's the last driveway on the north side of town on the east side of Highway 1. The gardens behind the restaurant are beautiful.

Cambria started as a fishing and quicksilver mining town, then later became important for its dairy and lumber exports.It was named Cambria in 1869, although it's been known as Santa Rosa, Slabville and San Simeon.

Several historical buildings remain including the Old Santa Rosa Church, the Squibb-Darke house, the Brambles, Santa Rosa School, the Hoosegow, The Gordon Howard home and the Lull house, now a part of the Bluebird Inn.
