East/West Ranch Hiking Area

Map

The East-West Ranch is a 417 acre hiking and trail area that winds through Cambria to the coast.

The purchase of this land was originally organized by Friends of the RanchLand , but the American Land Conservancy, Los Osos/Baywood chapter of SWAP, California Coastal Conservancy, the Cambria Community Services District, San Luis Obispo County, CalTrans, and many local businesses and residents all had a hand in preserving this open space.

The Cambria Community Services District will hold fee-title title on the Ranch and North Coast SWAP will hold a protective conservation easement and a long-term contract to manage and maintain the property for the public. A year long planning process on how the land should be managed is due to be completed by the end of 2002.
There are no facilites on the trail or at the trailhead. Access is gained through one of several pedestrian gates.
However, there are these interesting benches and a bridge made from branches.
