A popular and historic seaside resort, this town was almost destroyed by a 400,000 gallon oil spill. The town was torn down, the contaminated soil removed, and a New Avila Beach® was built. So while Avila Beach is a historic town, most if it is brand new construction.
Olde Port was mostly untouched and remains the historic anchor to the area. Walk out the pier on a sunny day and you'll be greeted by seals sunning themselves on the bait rafts. There are fish markets along the length and Old Port Inn at the end. Grab a table here and you can watch the waves through the glassed in looking glass in the middle.
