I first visited this beach area in the mid 1980's when I
had come up the coast with a friend to tour
Hearst Castle. We parked on the beach overnight waiting
to tour the castle the next day. At that time I didn't know
about the chill fog that comes in late evening, but I won't
forget it now. However, the next morning I woke up to one
of the most beautifuls vistas I've ever seen.
Right across the street from the
Hearst Castle visitors center, people often miss this beach
area. There's a pier that's popular for viewing and fishing.
A kayak and boogie board concession is open here during high
season.
You can just see the castle sitting proudly on top of the
hill.
Ocean kayaking is popular. Picnic tables, barbecue grills
and restrooms are available.
There are 24 picnic sites, restrooms, water faucets, and barbecue
grill stands.
Stop next door and see Sebastian's Store. But it doesn't
carry any food items. You'll have to drive to San
Simeon Acres to get any supplies.
