The Oso Flaco (skinny bear) nature area is incredible. It's actually a part of Oceano Dunes Off Road Vehicle Recreation Area but worlds apart in feeling.

Well planned and easy to walk, the number and variety of birds that call this area home are incredible

Just three miles north of Guadalupe off Hwy 1, watch for the small sign that points west of the highway and follow it to the end.

There was a $4.00 day use fee when I was there but I've heard that's gone up.. Pay at the gate and bring small change
