Montana de Oro is one of my favorite trail areas. It has several year round streams that flow to the ocean, attracting a wide variety of animals and birds.
It's not unusual to see coyotes walking around at sunset looking for small game, as hikers enjoy the last few minutes of golden light over the ocean.
The tide pools are incredibly beautiful. Dark blue water is surrounded by striated rock. In the pools you'll find a variety of crabs, anemones, and other small critters. |
