Montana de Oro

Once you've done most of the climbing at the first part of the hike, you can slow down ( or maybe for some people stop gasping long enough) to look out at the hills that surround Hazard Peak.

There are great views down to the ocean and out to the communities of Los Osos, Morro Bay and Cayucos. But plan on there being haze most of the time, if not grey skies.

There are benches along the trails up here that serve two purposes. The are a great place to take a break and they store shovels and rakes. So take a few minutes while you're up here and work on the trail if you can.
