The parking area is just around from the Islay Trail/Road gate and up the hill from the park headquarters. See the map for more. You'll see a dirt parking area on the ocean side of the road and a well marked trailhead on the other side of the road.

Some Cautions. Take plenty of water with you. This trail is steep and dry. The sand at the beginning of the trail is almost as fine as talcum powder.

The trail is fairly clear but prevention for ticks is always a good idea. Some people have talked about rattlers up here, but I've never seen one.

And one last caution. The trail is clear on the way up, but the sides of the trail on the back side are pretty heavy with poison oak.
