Emma Woods is really the first park you find north of Ventura along Highway 101. As you come off the offramp onto Old Highway 1, you see a small sign and road on your left that runs back along the offramp along the coast. But this park, which is primarily for RVer's, goes back a surprising distance.

The park is a stone's throw from Highway 101 and the train tracks, but the sound of the surf is enough to drown most of the sounds of civilization out.

You can see the camp host spot is directly under the offramp. The coast is itself is boulder covered to prevent erosion, though there are complaints from conservationists that this abatement just causes more problems further south.

Fishermen can expect to catch perch, bass, cabezon and corbina along the shore. Bird watchers can hike down to the south end where a fresh-water marsh attracts a variety of birds and other wild life.

There are 90 camping spots available, though the length is limited to 30' due to room to turn aorund in.

The camping spots are a combination of back-in and parallel parking pads.

There are no services available, so bring everything, including water.

There's also a group camp mentioned on the State web page, but I haven't seen that yet.
