Founded September 1, 1772 by Father Serra.
It was named in honor of Saint Louis, Bishop of Toulouse, France

In viewing the Mission, don't forget the role that the local Chumash Native Americans had in building and supporting the Mission

Secularized by the Mexican government and sold for $500, much of the land was returned to the church in the 1850's

An active Parish, Sunday Mass  times are 7:00, 9:00, 10:30, 18:00 and a 12:10 bilingual Mass
