Here we're in the church itself. I always enjoy the peace, quiet and beauty inside the chapel. No matter how rushed and harried in life, life seems to slow down and feel a bit richer inside. This church was dedicated in 1809. The roof has been re-done several times, the windows updated, then changed to reflect the original, the floor covered and uncovered.

Many changes were done under the administration of Father Ciprian Rubio, which were later undone to restore the church to it's original state. Unfortunately, destroying many of the original Chumash made decorations was part of that.

Father Patrick Grogan had the tile restored on the roof, built the convent and present rectory, and placed the fountain.

Father Aubrey J. O'Reilly had the windows restored to their original size and the cross-beams and the floor uncovered.
